New Smart Meters Being Installed in Willow Point MUD

April 23, 2026 12:00 am

The Board of Directors of Willow Point Municipal Utility District of Fort Bend and Waller Counties (WPMUD) is pleased to inform residents of a district-wide initiative to install new smart water meters.

These upgraded, technology-enabled meters are designed to improve accuracy and provide residents with greater visibility into their water usage. Once installation is complete, residents will be able to access detailed, real-time usage, and accurate data through the EyeOnWater app, including the ability to set up alerts for potential leaks or unusually high-water use.

Project Timeline

This project will be completed in two phases:

Phase I:
Meter replacements began in Anserra on April 1 and will continue through May 31.

Phase II:Work in Trails of Katy is anticipated to begin following the completion of Phase I. Additional details, including the start date, will be shared with residents as the schedule is finalized.

What to Expect During Installation

Over the next several months, authorized crews will be working throughout the District to remove and replace existing analog meters.

  • Water service will be temporarily shut off at each home during installation.
  • Interruptions are expected to be brief (between 3-5 minutes) and will occur during normal business hours.
  • A crew member will knock prior to beginning work to notify residents.
  • If no one is available, a door tag will be left confirming the meter replacement has been completed.

Residents do not need to be home for the work to be completed.

Why Smart Meters?

Water meters lose accuracy over time. Many of the District’s existing meters—particularly in earlier-developed areas—have already reached or exceeded their recommended service life.

By upgrading to smart meters, the District is not only replacing aging infrastructure but also providing residents with modern tools to better understand and manage their water usage. This added visibility can help identify leaks early, reduce water waste, and support more efficient water use across the community.

Cost to Residents

This project is being fully funded by the District. There will be no direct costs to residents, and no charges related to this initiative will appear on your water bill.

For questions or additional information, residents are encouraged to contact Si Environmental, LLC customer service at (832) 490-1600, the District’s operator; or email the District directly at info@willowpointmud.com.

Additional information on accessing and using the EyeOnWater app will be provided once installation is complete. The Board appreciates your patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure upgrade is completed and looks forward to providing enhanced service and greater transparency through the new smart meter system.
